Never-Trumper
Former Democrat Turned RINO Who
Never Left His Liberal Roots.
Dolan Turned His Back On Trump.
While the overwhelming majority of Ohioans stand with President Trump1, Democrat Dolan started a political campaign to work against the President.2
When Dolan launched his Senate campaign, President Trump released a statement saying, “I know of at least one person in the race who I won’t be endorsing.” He called Dolan a “RINO,” or Republican-in-name-only.3
Dolan Turned His Back On Conservatives.
Democrat Dolan “Voted Liberal” at least 20 times during his seven years in the Ohio Senate, according to the American Conservative Union’s scorecard. ACU is the nation’s oldest grassroots conservative organization.4
Dolan has the second most liberal voting record of any Republican in the Senate, with a lifetime “conservative” rating of only 81%.5 Left-leaning CNN even called Dolan a “moderate,” citing one source who said Democrat Dolan is running his campaign “in the McCain lane, the Romney lane.”
Dolan even authored legislation creating special tax incentives for businesses that invest in and prioritize “woke” DEI policies and environmental activism.6
Dolan Turned His Back On Life.
As a candidate for the Ohio Senate, Democrat Dolan was asked to explain his position on abortion and said, “I won’t introduce any bills. I won’t spend any time on that issue.”7
Democrat Dolan opposed landmark legislation banning abortion after a baby’s heartbeat is detected, except when the mother’s life is at risk. When Governor John Kasich vetoed the bill, Dolan sided with the Democrats in supporting the veto.8
When the Senate voted on a bill to protect unborn babies diagnosed with Down syndrome, Dolan “joined the nine Democrats in voting against it.”9
Dolan Turned His Back On Gun Owners.
Democrat Dolan voted against legislation allowing Ohioans to defend themselves if it’s “reasonably believed to be necessary to prevent injury, loss, or risk to life or safety.”10
Dolan also sided with Democrats in opposing a law that allows trained school employees to carry a firearm for use in student safety. Governor Mike DeWine signed the bill, calling it “another tool for districts that want to protect children.” Dolan voted no.11
Instead, Dolan has repeatedly sponsored legislation allowing law enforcement to confiscate guns from law-abiding citizens and requiring additional background checks on Ohioans who want to purchase a weapon for self-defense.12
Dolan Turned His Back On Taxpayers.
When Democrat Dolan took over the Senate Finance Committee, Ohio went on a spending spree. State spending exploded on Dolan’s watch by nearly $25 billion!13
At the same time, taxpayers got stuck with the bill. Since 2017, Ohio tax collections exploded by more than $10 billion.14
Every time Ohio drivers see high gas prices, they have Democrat Dolan to blame. He’s the architect of one of the biggest gas tax increases in state history, raising taxes on hardworking Ohioans by $865 million a year!15
Instead of cutting state spending to balance the budget, Dolan voted in 2009 to help Democrats raise taxes by nearly $1 billion on Ohio individuals and small businesses.16
Dolan Turned His Back On Small Businesses.
When Republicans took action to protect Ohio’s small businesses from oppressive government mandates, Matt Dolan sided with the Democrats against them. Dolan voted against legislation that lowered fines for violating health department orders, which often unfairly targeted businesses struggling to stay open during the pandemic.17
Dolan again took sides with the Democrats when Republicans voted to limit quarantine mandates on people who aren’t ill and haven’t been exposed to an infectious disease, mandates that crippled and killed many of Ohio’s small businesses.18
Dolan was one of only two Republicans who voted to block a bill giving lawmakers the ability to review public health orders. The law mirrors similar authority in 30 other states that provides a check and balance on excessive, job-killing mandates, but Dolan voted no.19
Dolan Turned His Back On Cleveland.
Democrat Dolan forced his “woke” agenda on one of Major League Baseball’s most storied franchises, changing the name of the Cleveland Indians to the Cleveland Guardians. Dolan, whose family owns the franchise which also pays part of his salary, called the Indians name “a distraction, a hindrance even to the company’s main objectives.”20
According to one media report, “When Dolan announced his Senate run in September, Trump called him a RINO, mocked the candidate’s family for renaming their baseball team and said Dolan would not be receiving his endorsement. ‘Anybody that changes the name of the once storied Cleveland Indians to the Cleveland Guardians should not be running for the United States Senate representing the Great People of Ohio.’”21
Democratic Dolan Won’t Fight for Us.
Because He’s NOT a Conservative Like Us.
